Meet the community funding safer food

Meet the community funding safer food

From new parents to lifelong gardeners, the people behind the pledges share why independent testing matters to them.

Behind every funded test is a group of people who decided a question was worth answering together. We asked a few of them why they pledged.

For new parents, it's often baby food. "I read one headline about heavy metals and couldn't unsee it," one backer told us. "Funding a test was the first time I felt like I could actually do something instead of just worry."

For gardeners and home cooks, it's curiosity about the staples they use every day. Knowing the glyphosate level of a favorite flour, or the cadmium in a go-to cocoa, turns an abstract concern into a concrete number.

And for researchers and advocates, the appeal is the public record. Every result that goes up is one more data point in a transparent, citable archive — built not by a company, but by a community that chipped in to find out.
